The French Breadboard

Walking through one of the shops I spotted a beautiful piece of wood. It was obvious by the knife marks that it was a cutting board of some sort, but the size and shape didn't make a lot of sense . Then I realized what it was.

It was a breadboard. It sat in the center of a table for years as family gathered around the table and broke bread.

The backstory alone was enough for me to want it. Plus, I liked the idea of it sitting in the center of the table. A true work of art and craftmanship sitting before everyone at the table.

With or without bread, That was just nice.

Then I saw the price.... $250.00

Is that US dollars? Cause I'm from here, I know what a dollar is worth.

I mean, it's a great story, but is it a $250.00 story?

No! But I do think it's an $110.00 story.

But it's a story start with your very own board.

Evolution of the boards

The original boards were designed strictly off of the original board. These boards were a basic flat slab that was simply shaped to the shape of the bread. They had more of a blunt end and no feet to lift the board.

Now, the ends are more rounded. This shows more of the patterns that are present in woodgrains.

The added feet lift the board giving it a sense prominence on the table. Making it an eye-catching addition to the table; no matter what it holds.
